We were proud to recently join representatives from Great Places Housing Group, local councillors and MP Navendu Mishra for the official groundbreaking ceremony at Chestergate, one of Stockport Town Centre West’s flagship regeneration schemes. The event marked the formal start of construction on the £41 million development, which will provide 148 new affordable homes for Social Rent and Rent to Buy. Chestergate forms a key part of the wider regeneration of Stockport Town Centre West, supporting Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation’s ambitious vision for inclusive growth across the area. The ceremony brought together project partners including Stockport Council, Homes England and the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation. The gathering recognised the strong collaboration that has enabled the scheme to progress quickly and with shared purpose. Construction has already advanced significantly since the ceremony. Foundations are close to completion, and tower cranes are scheduled to be installed next week, allowing us to move into the concrete frame stage. When finished, Chestergate will offer high-quality, energy-efficient homes that support long-term community growth and accessibility in the centre of Stockport. During the event, Great Places highlighted the importance of partnership-driven regeneration and the positive impact that collaborative working has on achieving meaningful outcomes for local communities.
