Sustainability was considered throughout the delivery of Sailworks, with coordinated design, disciplined construction monitoring and detailed close out evidence contributing to performance across energy, water, waste, transport and environmental measures. A particularly strong area was Land Use & Ecology, where Sailworks achieved all 13 available credits alongside a verified 178.11% increase in ecological value and long term management measures. The development also demonstrated a strong focus on whole life value, achieving seven standard life cycle impact credits and two exemplary credits, together with full life cycle costing and service life planning. Responsible site delivery also contributed to the final assessment. All construction waste management credits were achieved, site impacts were monitored throughout delivery and the project recorded Considerate Constructors Scheme scores of 42 and 44. Lower impact operation was supported through passive design, air source heat pumps and non combustion systems, alongside contaminated land remediation and measures to reduce surface water run off. Achieving a final score of 62.80% demonstrates how the coordinated approach taken from design through to project close out successfully converted sustainability commitments into verified and measurable outcomes. The BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating represents another fantastic achievement for the Sailworks development and everyone involved in its successful delivery.
